'''Manticore''' is the organization that created the [[X5 series]] along with other [[X-Series|X series']]. Although unknown of now, sources can confirm that many X5, and X6 soldiers are still blended into the public.

Project Manticore was founded by [[Sandeman]]. Sandeman created Manticore after having rejected the beliefs of an Ancient [[Breeding Cult]]. Notthat muchhe elsewas a life-long member of. Very little is known about Manticore's founding, as most of the information is still classified as top secret. What is known is that Sandeman oversaw Manticore until the government took over the project. He made the transgenics to be immune to the pathogen/virus the cultists were bred to be immune to.

ManticoresManticore's work involved creating a superiousgenetically humanmodified race ofsuperior warriorssoldier. They created the [[X5 series]] and the ''[[Anomalies]]transhumans'', superhumansmission-specific transgenic soldiers that don't look entirely human. At some point they recruited [[Donald Lydecker]], [[Elizabeth Renfro]], and others to help with the training, creation, and monitoring of their warriors.

The 092009 escape began when [[Max Guevara|X5-452]] was caught having a seizure,. knowingKnowing what would happen to herthem, a group of the X5s (about 21 of them) attempted to escape, Colonel Lydecker cut them off beforeand beingwas forceforced to shoot [[Eva|X5-766]] (Eva), the only armed X5 of the group. After watching Eva get shotdie, the other X5s were more determined to escape, and12 theyescaped all made a run for it, asdespite Lydecker led his's men to findcombing the escapeesentire 12 escaped,area. 1 turned back at the last minute, 2 were killed, 3 were wounded and 2 were captured. Because of the 12 escapeesescape, Manticore was forced to increase the training on all remaining X5s and any future X-series to reduce the chance of rebellion. The reeducated X-5 series thatwas wouldgiven bethe createdunit designation X-5R.

The escape at the Gillette, Wyoming facility in 2009 causedbegan the start of a 10the10 year search lead by Lydecker to recover the 12 escaped [[X5|X5s]]s. [[Zack/|X5-599|Zack]] who had led the escape had worked meticulously during those 10 years to make sure that his brothers and sisters were kept safe and hidden from Manticore and Lydecker.

In 2020, [[X5-452Max Guevara|Max]] caused the destruction of the Seattle Manticore facility after her recapture and second escape. During the destruction, alla large number of the transgenics escaped. This includes many X6s who's whereabouts are still unknown. Most of the [[AnomaliesX-Series]] soldiers, along with everytheir [[X-seriestranshuman transgenic]]counterparts thatand Mantocoreeven hada createdfew wasanomalies setfound freefreedom. Their escape, inevitably causedrevealed the public to know about the existanceexistence of Manticore, and. fearFear and hate grew, especially against the anomalies and transhumans. The transgenticstransgenics in Seattle, along with others who lived outside the city, came together in [[Terminal City]].
