*Alec isn't a pending love interest for Max. She never showed any signs that she might be interested in him in a romantic way. Max only broke up with Logan in order to protect him from the deadly virus she was carrying. That she now was together with Alec was just a white lie to make sure that Logan stays away from her until they found a cure for the virus.
