Manticores work involved creating a superious human race of warriors. They created the [[X5 series]] and the ''[[Anomalies]]'', superhumans that don't look entirely human. At some point they recruited [[Donald Lydecker]], [[Elizabeth Renfro]], and others to help with the training, creation, and monitoring their warriors.

The escape of 12 young X5s during 2009 forced Manticore to increase the training of all the remaining X5s and other X series that had and would be created. The X5s escaped after [[X5-452]] was caught having a seizer by a guard. Colonal Lydecker was forced to shot one the young X5s who were trying to escape. That night 3 were wounded and 2 killed once Lydecker and his men went to try and recapture the escapees.
