Manticore

Manticore is the organization that created the X5 series along with other X series'.

History

Founding

Project Manticore was founded by Sandeman. Sandeman created Manticore after having rejected the beliefs of an Ancient Breeding Cult that he was a life-long member of. Very little is known about Manticore's founding, as most of the information is still classified as top secret. What is known is that Sandeman oversaw Manticore until the government took over the project. He made the transgenics to be immune to the pathogen/virus the cultists were bred to be immune to.

Work

Manticores work involved creating a genetically modified superior soldier. They created the X5 series and the transhumans, mission-specific transgenic soldiers that don't look entirely human. At some point they recruited Donald Lydecker, Elizabeth Renfro, and others to help with the training, creation, and monitoring their warriors.

'09 Escape

The 2009 escape began when X5-452 was caught having a seizure. Knowing what would happen to them, a group of the X5s (about 21 of them) attempted to escape, Colonel Lydecker cut them off and was forced to shoot X5-766 (Eva), the only armed X5 of the group. After watching Eva die, the other X5s were more determined to escape, 12 escaped despite Lydercker's men combing the entire area. 1 turned back at the last minute, 2 were killed, 3 were wounded and 2 were captured. Because of the escape, Manticore was forced to increase the training on all remaining X5s and any future X-series to reduce the chance of rebellion. The reeducated X-5 series was given the unit designation X-5R.

Searching

The escape at the Gillette Wyoming facility in 2009 began the10 year search lead by Lydecker to recover the 12 escaped X5s. Zack who had led the escape had worked meticulously during those 10 years to make sure that his brothers and sisters were kept safe and hidden from Manticore and Lydecker.

Destruction

In 2020, X5-452 caused the destruction of Manticore after her recapture and second escape. During the destruction, all of the Anomalies along with every X-Series transgenic that Mantocore had created was set free. Their escape, inevitably caused the public to know about the existance of Manticore, and fear and hate grew, especially against the anomalies. The transgentics in Seattle, along with others who lived outside the city, came together in Terminal City.
